Ode to Winter

Ode to Winter

When we were wolves

We waited for winter

To howl from a dark sky

Eons passed

Now we are pilgrims

Winter whispers to us

Keep your voices down

Come in, your summer sins

Are moldering in leaves

Buried under a prayer of snow

You are forgiven

Now we are travelers

Winter sings to us

From the stream of ice

That freezes blue waltzes

From the dances of your past

Your heart will glide along

Now we are artists

Winter sun spills over us

With its watercolor light

Revealing our private wilderness

And asks: what will you see?

This moment, just now, what do you see?
